A report found Maine ranks 14th out of all states on a number of factors that impact life satisfaction, ranking high on the environment and civil liberties but low on measures such as children and families, economic output and mental health. 

As the country approaches its 250th anniversary, the nonpartisan State of the Nation Project created the State of the States report to assess each of the 50 states and Washington D.C. on 31 measures — such as income inequality, social isolation, youth depression, etc. — created by a board of academics and advisers to the last five presidents.

Add Maine to the list of states that will not participate in President Donald Trump’s Great American State Fair when it kicks off in Washington D.C. June 25.

Elaine Theriault-Currier, an account executive with Marshall Communications, the PR agency that represents the Maine Office of Tourism, said that officials turned down the invitation to take part in the upcoming 16-day summer exhibition on the National Mall due to the “busy summer season.”

President Donald Trump said Monday he had signed a ceasefire with Iran, moving the two countries one step closer to ending the war that began in February.

Trump, speaking from the G7 conference in Europe, said the memorandum of understanding ensures Iran cannot possess a nuclear weapon and clears the way for ships to move through the Strait of Hormuz without paying a toll.
